Depression

Substance/Drug abuse related disorders:

  • We treat various mental and behavioral disorders due to substance abuse

Schizophrenia (Psychosis):

  • Inability to distinguish reality from delusions and hallucinations

Mood/Affective Disorders:

  •  Major Depression
  • Dysthymia– Chronic low grade depression or irritable mood that lasts for around 2 years
  • Bipolar Disorders– Bipolar I, Bipolar II and Cyclothymic Disorder
  • Mood Disorder due to another health related issue such as injuries, infections and chronic illnesses
  • Drugs/Substance-induced Mood Disorder
  • Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) – Depressions that occurs each year at the same time (summer depression / winter blues)

  • Phobias:
  1. Specific or Simple Phobias – Acrophobia (fear of heights), Claustrophobia (fear of closed-in spaces) etc
  2. Complex Phobias - Social Phobia & Agoraphobia (fear of public places)

Eating Disorders:

  • Anorexia Nervosa– Distorted body image; you may see yourself as fat even thought you may have a very low body weight
  • Bulimia Nervosa– Uncontrolled episode of eating followed by purging/induced vomiting , misuse of laxatives , excessive exercise or fasting
  • Binge Eating Disorder– Eating a lot of food in a short duration of time , you may feel no control over your eating habits

Personality Disorders:

  • Paranoid personality disorders (PPD) – People with PPD haveparanoia, acute mistrust, and suspicion of others
  • Schizoid personality disorder - People with this disorder are loners, prefer solitary activities over social relationships
  • Borderline personality disorder- inability to manage emotions effectively
  • Antisocial personality disorder (Sociopaths)- disregard other people‘s feelings, personal property and wellbeing  for personal gain
  • Narcissistic personality disorder- Exaggerated feelings of superiority or self worth over others
  • Histrionic personality disorder- Over conscious about one’s appearance and constantly trying to seek attention of others  
  • Dependent personality disorder- Rely heavily on others for approval, validation and fulfillment of basic needs of everyday life
  • Avoidant personality disorder -Over sensitivity to rejection
  • Obsessive compulsive personality disorder (OCPD)- Obsess about control, order; strongly bother by disruptions in everyday routine

Psychological Development Disorders:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

Hyperkinetic Disorder/Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD):

  • Patients exhibit poor attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. AHDH becomes obvious in early childhood.
